The country borders have finally opened and people are now free to travel around the world once more. After being cooped up in the United Kingdom for so long, naturally we are all desperate to get out. If you have an upcoming holiday, then it is time to start getting ready! Obviously, coronavirus has changed the state of travel, so things are different now from how they were before. To ensure our readers are thoroughly prepared for their holidays, we thought we would put together a list of all the essentials you will need before travelling abroad. Here they are:
1.) Good Insurance
If the past year has proven anything, it’s that you never know what is going to happen next. Though we’d all like to think that our holidays will go swimmingly well, giving us a much-needed break, unfortunately life always doesn’t work out like that. You might have an accident whilst at the resort, catch a nasty bug, or have your money stolen. You just don’t know. To prepare you for all the worst-case scenarios, we recommend investing in some travel insurance. There are a variety of cover options, so browse the selection to see what would best suit you and the nature of your travel.
2.) Covid Passport
The world is a very different place to what it once was. If you want to travel, then you will need to obtain not only a regular passport but also a Covid-19 passport. But what exactly is this? Well, it is formally called an NHS Covid Pass. This is an official travel document that is designed to share your vaccination status in a safe way. It helps to prove eligibility for international travel. You may also need an NHS Covid Pass to enter certain venues. If you forget your Covid Pass on holiday, then you could face a nightmare at the airport, as you would have no way to prove that you are effectively safeguarded against the virus. So, obviously, this is a big one.
3.) Travel Arrangements
Travelling between countries does require doing more than simply catching a flight. You will need to arrange transport to the airport on your departure date and transport to your accommodation upon arrival. If you are planning on staying at the resort for the rest of the holiday, then you just need to organise a taxicab back. It is always a good idea to leave a couple of hours early, so that you have some wiggle room. Anyone who wants to explore beyond the resort should think about getting a hire car for the duration of their trip. Just remember that you may need to acquire a foreign driving licence before doing so.
4.) Chargers and Adapters
In this day and age, we need our mobile phones to survive. Without them, we can become powerless. They offer us a lifeline when we have an emergency, allowing us to call local authorities or navigate through foreign cities to find our hotel accommodation. So, don’t forget your mobile phone! On that note, remember to take your charger on holiday as well. Otherwise, you might find yourself stuck in a rut without power. As most foreign countries have different plug sockets to the United Kingdom, you should also bring a handful of adapters with you. It is surprising how many people get caught out by this little detail.
These are some essential things that you need to prepare before travelling abroad this year. Get everything sorted in advance and save yourself a load of hassle on your departure day.
